This is a blog about our decision to leave the city and office life, live more sustainably and contribute in a small way towards leaving the world a little better than we found it. It’s a bit of an experiment: can two city kids with few practical skills manage to start a viable rural business from scratch? Thanks to the internet it is easier than ever to try to learn. At a minimum we’ll better appreciate where our food comes from and how hard running a small business really is. We count ourselves lucky to be able to explore the other road that was, until now, untravelled.

I’m aiming to post weekly during this first year, even if it’s short sometimes, so we can look back at the successes, surprises and lessons. Hopefully my blogging and web skills will also improve along the way! I also started this blog for our friends and family, near and far, who want to see what we’re doing (even if this is a slightly rosier-than-reality version!). Maybe it will even inspire someone to try out their dream, or just make people smile as they leave home to go to warm and dry office jobs!
